3. <HAKONE> Hakone Honbako

Overview

Located about a 4-minute walk from Nakagora Station on the Hakone Tozan Railway, this book hotel is based on the theme of "living with books" and "encounters with books". The museum is studded with suggestions such as "the distance between you and books will be much closer" and "you will want to live with books".

Inspiration came from the first photo book I opened. Surprising facts and knowledge gained from a book you suddenly pick up. The peace of mind you get from a book that you pick up because you are curious about the cover. Books give us a variety of opportunities.

Hakone Honbox is an interactive media hotel with a book theme. It is not a hotel only for book lovers, but rather a "place where books and people meet" that those who "don't buy many books" or "haven't read books at all lately" should definitely visit. Here you can stay as if you were living with a book.

Onsen

The Hakone Main Box has 3 floors, 1 basement floor ~ 2 floors above ground. The guest rooms are located on the 1st and 2nd floors, with restaurants and shops on the 1st floor, and large public baths and theater rooms on the 1st basement floor.

There are 18 rooms, each with a different interior, all of which have an open-air hot spring bath and a "bookcase". "That person's bookcase" is an original bookshelf selected by people who "love books" who are active on the front lines of various fields.

Rooms with hot spring open-air baths can be broadly divided into the "Mountain View Side" where you can see the Hakone Outer Ring Mountains such as Mt. Myoseigatake and Mt. Kintoki, which are famous for their capital letter ware, and the "Green View Side" where you can look forward to the autumn leaves season with beautiful trees spreading out on the windowsills. The rooms offer beautiful views of Hakone's natural scenery. In the large public bath, you can enjoy colorless and transparent hot water drawn from the source of Gora Onsen and cloudy sulfur spring water drawn from Wakutani Onsen. Both hot water is flowing from the source.

Hakone Honbox is a ryokan that I would like to recommend to those who like books and those who are not interested in books. Please note that, as a general rule, children under the upper grades of elementary school are not allowed to stay at the hotel. This is because there are many places where it is dangerous for small children to run around energetically due to the design, but if you think that there is no problem with the points to keep in mind when staying, you can consult with us.

Hoshino Resorts began in 1914 with the Hoshino Onsen Ryokan opened in Karuizawa.

The only place that takes over the name of this hot spring is the large public bath in Risonare Atami at Hoshino Resorts. The quality of the springs is calcium, sodium-chloride, and sulfate.
